Graduate assistantships (GA’s) including teaching and research assistantships are available on a competitive basis to highly qualified students who are admitted to full standing. These assistantships come with health benefits and tuition remissions and are referred to as the standard GA package. To supplement the standard GA package, faculty members may provide employment, up to and including full time employment, for summer research. In addition, several types of fellowships are available from the Graduate School.

INES also offers partial GA support that is commensurable to the negotiated number of hours per week and may include tuition and health benefits. Faculty members may provide employment for summer research to supplement the partial GA package.

Applicants should inquire about the availability of GA funding positions with the director of the INES program. They can also contact faculty members directly to discuss GA funding opportunities. Typically, students seeking assistantships should apply by February 15 and the Program will make the first round of decisions by March 15 for awarding GA’s for the following academic year.
